With as many as 50% of people experiencing it in their lifetimes, it's a big deal. It causes physical and mental ill health, sickness absence, a loss of identity... And quite often results in people leaving their role - its impact is huge.

Why is it important for me to help people experiencing burnout?
Because I'm a burnout survivor and I learned the hard way.
Over 2 decades in the NHS, working my way from clinician to director, fed my rescuer complex and my drive to help people and fix everything for... well, everyone. Then came the pandemic which took the concept of hard work and long hours to a whole other dimension.
Throw into the mix an NHS inspection which took my organisation into the unending pressure of special measures... and you have my old life.
Work, work, work. No personal life. A neglected family.
Over five years or so, I hurtled towards burnout without even realising it
...until one morning I woke up and couldn't function… and didn't care.
It took eight months for me to recover, to find myself and figure out what I actually wanted for myself.
I wish I had known someone who could have helped me find a better way of living and working, before I burned out. I wish I had known someone who could have walked beside me, guiding me through my burnout recovery to make it quicker and less lonely. Let me fill that space for you.
